In October of 2018, our team had the pleasure of sitting down with Kevin Cosper, our fearless leader and President of Atlas Lexington. Atlas Lexington is a cutting-edge marketing and sales firm headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky. Cosper started with our client in August 2015, finding great success in the years that have followed.
Cosper was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. As an outgoing and dedicated athlete, he played travel baseball 11 ½ months out of the year. “I was very sports-minded,” says Cosper, “it taught me to be competitive and appreciate teamwork- I am always competing, that’s my thing.” Cosper, who graduated from high school in 2012, packed his bags and headed for the University of Georgia, where he studied business management, was involved with a collegiate fraternity and supported Georgia football for four years. After graduating from the university in 2015, Cosper started immediately working with our client and broker. “We started with four people on the team from Nashville,” says Cosper, “I still remember building my desk and painting the walls. The very first person who came in for an interview is still with us. We’ve come a long way and I owe a lot of that to the people who support me.”
Cosper runs his business on a foundation of strong values and dedication. “My biggest value is fairness,” says Cosper, “I love the merit-based aspect of our company. Everyone starts on a level playing field, and I value the people around me every single day.” Alongside his team, the President has created a successful machine, growing with each day. “I don’t believe in being stagnant,” says Cosper, “I work to add value to the people around me, and in turn, they do the same.”
As to the culture created at Atlas Lexington, Cosper speaks with warmth and fondness. “We work in a family environment,” says Cosper, “we keep a high energy, and are very team oriented. We are friends before coworkers- work hard, play hard.” This embracing energy is part of the reason why the Atlas Lexington team has seen such success and growth of quality. “We are up to about 25 team members now,” says Cosper, “we’re growing slowly, but growing the right way- strong.”
For entrepreneurs looking to kick-start their own business, Cosper shares valuable advice. “You’re never gonna feel ready, so just do it. Always be a student, the only way to add value to the people around you is to add value to yourself. Get your hands dirty, and never ask anyone to do something that you wouldn’t do yourself.” These are not just tips from Cosper, but rather a leadership foundation. “I work to lead by example,” says Cosper, “I am constantly working with everyone on their tasks, and I keep it very motivational and high energy.”
The President is quick to acknowledge the success of his company but refuses to slow down. “I want to promote 2 people to entrepreneurship within the first year of business,” says Cosper, “I want to generate $1 million in total revenue, and I want to constantly make an impact on my coworkers and community.”
